Wishing Is Not Begging

On Wishing – and Why It Takes More Courage Than We Think
Wishing seems like something simple. Something childlike, perhaps. Something we unlearned at some point because life taught us to be careful. Not to hope too much. Not to reach too high. Not to fail too often. And yet wishing is one of the most original movements of life itself – a quiet but powerful gesture toward the future.
As soon as people begin to engage with visions and goals, wishing shows up quite automatically. We wish for a vision to become reality. We wish for a goal to be reached. And this is exactly where a subtle, often overlooked tipping point begins. Because wishing is sensitive. It can open us – or lead us straight into lack.
Many people find that a wish is immediately joined by a painful thought: I don't have it. I can't do it. Why doesn't it work for me? And the more often this cycle repeats, the harder it becomes to wish at all. Some stop altogether. Others then call it "realism". Or "spiritual maturity". Being happy without wishes. But usually it isn't freedom – it is resignation.
Yet wishing is nothing we need to protect ourselves from. On the contrary. Wishing is life. Wishing is creation.
A true wish holds a natural joy, an aliveness, a forward movement. It is as if life itself were speaking through us and saying: This is what I want to experience. This is what I want to express. This is what I want to explore. In that moment there is no lack yet. Only anticipation. Only spaciousness. Only a quiet yes.
Lack only arises where the wish is taken over by thinking. When the wish is no longer experienced as a living impulse, but is immediately judged, compared and meant to be controlled. How do I get there? Why don't I have it yet? What if it never happens? In that moment the energy of wishing is cut off. The wish is no longer nourished – it is burdened.
Many then try to "repair" wishing through thoughts: imagining the wish has already been fulfilled. Holding on to positive images. Building an inner house of cards that stands only until the next doubt arrives. And then everything collapses again. Not because the wish was wrong – but because it was held captive in thinking.
Wishing works differently.
A fulfilling wish already carries its fulfillment within it. Not as a result, but as a feeling. The moment you speak it, something is already happening. This is what I wish for. That honesty alone, that daring to trust yourself, that opening – it has power. It moves. It aligns.
And sometimes life also shows us our limits through a wish. Not to stop us, but to make us more refined. When a wish immediately triggers massive lack, that isn't failure. It is a pointer. Perhaps it isn't the right expression. Perhaps the wish needs a different form, a different path, a different approach – something that carries more joy, more resonance, more possibility.
In this way, wishing becomes a field of learning. Not in the sense of "right or wrong", but in the sense of in tune or not in tune. Wishes that make you feel alive set you in motion. Wishes that paralyze you invite you to look more closely.
And when we begin to wish again – honestly, fulfillingly, in joy – something decisive happens: standstill dissolves. Life starts moving. Even if the wish isn't fulfilled immediately, or not exactly as we imagined, it still leads us in the right direction. It brings us closer to ourselves. To what truly wants to be lived through us.
Wishing doesn't mean doing nothing. It means setting out on the way. Walking the path the wish opens up. Step by step. Experiencing. Learning. Awake.
Perhaps it is time to take the strain out of wishing again. To bring it back from the head into the heart and the body. To see it not as a demand on life, but as a dialogue with it.
Dare to wish again.
Not out of lack.
But out of joy.
And let yourself be surprised where this path takes you.
This is exactly where our course Power of Creation comes in.
Not with manifesting from the head.
Not with optimizing thoughts.
But with reconnecting to this original force of life
that wants to create through you – beyond lack, pressure and self-optimization.
