Not Feeling Is Violence
Jul 04, 2021
"Violence is not the expression of a feeling. It is the not-feeling of a feeling."
It is the reaction of the mind that has split itself off from feeling. All violence, whether against ourselves or others, is the inability to bear and to feel our feelings.
We experience so much harshness and violence against others or against ourselves (self-hatred, anorexia, addiction, obsession with the body, compulsive thoughts, always having to be right, manipulation, physical and emotional violence, and so on). They are all simply a cry for help – born of the inability to feel what is really here.
When we learn again to feel more than we think, we create fertile ground for an emotional intelligence that comes directly from the source of life.
In this compassionate awareness we discover that every feeling is welcome and vital, and that it finds its own expression without the interference of the intellect.
In the freedom of true feeling, the mind's reactive patterns can come to rest, and life is felt more deeply and truly lived.
We become awake and clear, compassionate and soft, strong and alive – wise and real.
